The Liveability Training Programme

Helping You make a more Liveable City

Ideas, Tools and Methods

The Liveability Project proudly presents the pilot version of the Liveability Training Programme!

Here you’ll find the first set of videos designed to inspire and support you in creating a more liveable city.

Through this training, you’ll gain ideas, tools, and methods that will help you navigate the exciting — and sometimes unpredictable — journey of developing co-creative urban projects.

Combining research with practical experience from city officials, project managers, and academics, the programme equips you with the knowledge and tools needed to help your city flourish — and to share what you learn with others.

The Liveability Cycle - 5 steps

Step 1 : Get ready for change!
What does it mean to face the challenge of a change process?

  • Adopting a learning-by-doing mindset

  • Defining the issue and setting your project ambitions

  • Introducing the Liveability Charter

Step 2: Understand the context!
How is your project connected to its surroundings? Who are the key players?

  • Mapping stakeholders and relationships

  • Exploring place and history: How did we get here?

Step 3: Engage and inspire!
How can you bring others along on your journey?

  • Building and energising your community

  • Forming your project team

Step 4: Take Action!
This is where ideas turn into reality.

  • Practical examples of community projects and on-the-ground initiatives

Step 5: Reflect and Learn!
Pause to reflect on what you and your community have achieved.

  • What have you learned?

  • How will it shape your next steps?

A whirlpool of miracles

The Liveability Cycle is not a straight line — it’s a circle of learning and growth.

You can enter at any point and move between steps as your project evolves. While the five steps provide a helpful sequence, real-life processes are flexible and often overlap.

This adaptability is what makes the approach powerful — it can be tailored to your specific needs while still offering guidance, structure, and inspiration.

Format of the training program

The programme consists of short microlectures, each lasting between a few minutes and around 20 minutes.

Each session features members of the Liveability network sharing tools, methods, ideas, and experiences, interpreting the five steps through their own expertise and local context.

Over time, this growing collection will form a unique, living knowledge base — one that continues to expand as new partners and experts contribute.

The Liveability Training Programme is self-generative: it evolves with the insights and creativity of our network. And there’s much more to come!

So, gather your team, grab a cup of coffee, and dive into the videos — your journey toward a more liveable city starts here.
